Sustainable Practice & Responsible Sourcing
Our commitment to sustainable practice begins with locality.
Every Lorn Jean piece is made in the UK—a deliberate choice to support traditional craftsmanship and maintain close oversight across every stage, from concept to casting and final polish.
By working within a local network, the studio preserves British heritage techniques while minimising environmental impact through limited transport and small-scale production. Each release is made with precision and intention—shaped to last through refined craftsmanship, considered sourcing, and the use of recycled precious metals.

Process & UK Craftsmanship
Lost Wax Casting & Finishing
Cast through wax, refined by hand.
Each piece begins as a sculptural design—modelled and moulded, then cast in metal using the lost wax method. This centuries-old technique captures fine detail with precision, preserving the integrity of form.
Once cast, the design returns to the studio for finishing. Edges are softened, surfaces refined, and details brought into focus—ensuring each piece holds a tactile presence shaped through time, patience, and craftsmanship.
Sterling Silver
Selected for clarity in form, sterling silver is an integral material in Lorn Jean’s compositions. X-ray silver is used in select pieces—reclaimed from medical film and refined in the UK through the AgAIN initiative. Recycled sterling silver is also used across the collection, balancing sculptural integrity with considered material sourcing.
18ct Gold
Solid 18ct gold is available for select designs—crafted for those who seek depth, luminosity, and weight in precious metal. A French vermeil option is also offered, using recycled sterling silver plated with 5 microns of 18ct gold—doubling the UK vermeil standard for durability and warmth.
A Considered Approach
Every design at Lorn Jean develops through an iterative sculptural process—sketched, modelled, refined, and reformed through material study. Forms are not rushed to resolution; they are shaped over time, informed by proportion, interaction, and conceptual intent.
This approach reflects the studio’s ongoing exploration of Material Poetics. A philosophy where form, material, and memory are distilled through process to create pieces that are both tactile and conceptual.
